W zeszły wtorek wulkan Agung zaczął być aktywny. Władze zaapelowały do ludzi, którzy mieszkają w promieniu 7,5 km od krateru, by opuścili swe domy i udali się w bezpieczne miejsca. Do kolejnych, silniejszych erupcji doszło w sobotę wieczorem i trzykrotnie w niedzielę, gdy Agung wyrzucał popiół wulkaniczny na wysokość 4 tys. metrów od krateru.
