Amerykański Episkopat prosi o pomoc po huraganie [GALERIA]
Amerykańska konferencja biskupów wzywa do nadzwyczajnej mobilizacji modlitw i solidarności w obliczu kataklizmu, z którym zmagają się mieszkańcy Teksasu. W ubiegły piątek, 25 sierpnia, w wybrzeża tego stanu uderzył huragan Harvey. Nad lądem przemienił się we front burzowy. Ulewne deszcze mogą potrwać do 1 września.
W imieniu episkopatu dramatyczny apel wystosował stojący na jego czele metropolita Galveston-Houston, która znalazła się w samym centrum tragicznych wydarzeń. Kard. Daniel DiNardo pisze o dramatycznych scenach, jakie rozgrywają się teraz w Teksasie, i o trwającym wciąż zagrożeniu. Prosi o modlitwę i wsparcie dla ofiar huraganu. Wyraża podziw i uznanie służbom ratowniczym, które z narażeniem życia śpieszą do poszkodowanych. Zapewnia też, że episkopat i katolickie instytucje charytatywne włączą się w pomoc dotkniętym tą klęską żywiołową. „Niech miłosierny i współczujący Bóg strzeże wszystkich, którym wciąż grozi niebezpieczeństwo” – napisał kard. DiNardo.
